Thanksgiving/Holiday Schedule

HoF will be CLOSED on Thursday, November 27th for Thanksgiving! However, we will be open on Wednesday (11/26) and Saturday (11/29). Looking ahead to December, we will be closed on four dates for the holidays--December 24th and 25th, December 31st, and January 1st. We will be open the rest of December, but be sure to add those dates to your calendar! Have a great Thanksgiving!

December Open/1-Touch

We also have our last Open of 2025 on Sunday, December 14th. Make sure to register in advance so we can host a good event! Who knows, someone might earn a new rating at this event! For fun, we'll also do a 1-touch tournament at the event. Sign up today! askfred.net

Epee Raffle/Christmas Party

Our annual Christmas party will take place on Monday, December 15th! This will take the place of regular practice that day, and give all of our members, friends, and family a chance to celebrate the year. We will also hold the drawing for our annual Epee Raffle , which means it's time to buy your raffle tickets! Someone will win a brand-new epee! You can buy tickets for $5 apiece online or in-person at the club.

Giving Tuesday

One week from today is Giving Tuesday! If you weren't aware, Hooked on Fencing is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization--a non-profit dedicated to promoting the sport of fencing and championing values of discipline, hard work, and perseverance. We do our best to make fencing as affordable and accessible to as many people as possible, and our membership rates are significantly lower than similar clubs around the country. If you're in a position to support our mission, and help us continue to train fencers for years to come, your donation is deeply appreciated, and always tax deductible. If you feel inspired to support the club financially this year, you can do so at this link . Huge thank you to each and every one of our members!

GRAFA Regional Results

Earlier this month, a few of our fencers competed at the GRAFA regional event in Grand Rapids, finding success on the strip. Reilly Jones won the Junior Men's Epee event, topping a field of 31 fencers from around the country. In Div II Men's Epee, Kaiyan Wang won gold in a field of 21 fencers. In Div 1A Women's Epee, Michelle Schultz finished 5th, losing by one point in a close bout and qualifying for Nationals. And in Div II Women's Epee, Sophia Ahmad finished 7th and earned her "E" rating. Congrats to all!

February NAC Deadline

TOMORROW (11/26) is the end of priority registration/start of open registration for the Cincinnati NAC, which will be held February 12-15, 2026. Division I, Junior, and Vet events will all be contested at this NAC, which makes it a perfect fit for many of our members. The Div I and Junior events have registration caps, so don't wait to register. IF spots are still open then (which they won't be for Men's Epee), the absolute latest dates to register is December 17th. Sign up early --ideally today if you are an "A"-rated fencer or have national points.

There is also an SJCC (Super Junior/Cadet Circuit) event in Memphis, TN on January 23-25. The deadline to register for this event is December 3rd.

Tuesday Night Training

With several events on the horizon in 2026, we will be starting a new session of TNT (Tuesday Night Training) on Tuesday, January 6th. These practices are intended for competitive fencers age 13 and up, and will focus on conditioning, strategy, and competitive fencing. This session will run through January and February, and there will be an additional cost. We'll announce more details and times soon.

In the meantime, we will be holding a special, free Tuesday Night Training on Tuesday, December 16th. This practice is both a preview of TNT and a chance to get some extra practice in before Junior Olympics in January. This practice is open to all fencers age 13 and up and will go from 6:30pm-9pm. Fencers should plan to be there for the whole time. We will focus on plenty of competitive fencing. There is no need to sign up. See you there!
