Weekend Tournaments

This weekend we are hosting two tournaments; a Friday Night Tourney on (as you might expect) Friday the 15th, and a D and Under on Saturday the 17th. All of our eligible competitive fencers should participate!

Weapon Repair Class

On Saturday, January 30th, there will be an Equipment Repair Class at 2:00pm. This class is open to both fencers and parents. We will discuss basic maintenance, diagnosing problems, and most importantly for parents, how to quickly remedy some of the common equipment problems that might occur at a tournament. This is sure to be useful information for everyone. There is no cost for the class, and it will run approximately 2 hours. Please let us know in advance if you plan to come, so we can make suitable preparations.

Tuesday Night Training

There are two big tournaments upcoming: the Junior Olympics and the Arnold Fencing Classic. In light of this, a new session of Tuesday Night Training will begin on Tuesday the 19th, and run for 7 weeks. These extra practices are available to all competitive members age 13 and above (and strongly encouraged for anyone attending either of these tournaments). There will be a cost of $50 for the 7 weeks, and fitness will be the focus. Sessions will last from 6-8pm.

Arnold Games

The Arnold Games are fast approaching! This multi-sport festival hosted by Arnold Schwarzenegger takes place every year in Columbus, OH. The fencing events are spread over 3 days (March 4-6). With a diversity of age categories, this is a great event for experienced and rookie fencers alike. Between now and the registration deadline (February 15) we will coordinate with all of our fencers who plan to attend to prepare and make this a great experience. Junior Olympics

The Junior Olympics are in Cleveland, OH this year! This is one of the biggest tournaments of the fencing year, and Hooked on Fencing has qualified 8 fencers for the event, including a women's team and a men's team! For everyone else, it is a great opportunity to see some high-level fencing in action, and support our fencers. There will also be plenty of vendors selling fencing equipment. The JO's will be at the Cleveland Convention Center on February 12-15, and there is no cost to spectators.
