Upcoming classes & tournaments.

Tuesday Night Training

On September 2nd, we will be starting a new ten week, high-intensity training class, with a focus on developing strength, speed, and endurance. This program is designed with competition in mind; therefore, participation is limited to fencers who A) are 13 or older and B) have fenced in at least one tournament outside of HoF. The class will be held every Tuesday 6-8pm (be there on time!) and will cost $100. These sessions are designed to supplement regular fencing practice, not replace it! Due to the nature of the exercises we will be doing, spots are limited, and are available on a first come, first served basis. You can sign up at the club by paying with cash or check. Be warned, this is not for the faint of heart!

Upcoming Competitions

Many factors make a fencer--footwork, lessons and conditioning are just a few examples. While Hooked on Fencing can provide you with many of the tools you need, one thing we cannot provide is competition experience! Competition is not for everyone, but if you have a serious desire to get better, competition is where you will improve the fastest. There is no substitute for experience!

That said, there are a few good competition opportunities coming up soon to keep on your radar. Here are some links to sign up for the Duelist Open on August 23rd, the Cleveland State Fall Open on August 30th, and Fencers Attacking Diabetes on September 13th and 14th (includes a separate women's event). Don't forget our own Friday Night Tourney on September 5th!

In other competition news, congrats to Scott Maurer on earning his "E" rating this past weekend! Good job, Scott!

Have a good week,
-Nick
