Summer Cookout/Senior Send-off

Summer Cookout

THIS Monday (June 22), regular practice at HoF will be (partially) replaced by our Summer Cookout. All HoF fencers, friends, and families are invited to celebrate the end of the season and our graduating seniors! We will start at 6pm, and there will be no normal footwork or group classes at 5:30 or 6:45. However, two caveats: first, since this is the last week before Summer Nationals, we will be sure to reserve a few strips in case any of our fencers still want to fence on Monday. Second, rain is in the forecast, so it's possible we'll switch from grilling to another option like pizza. In any case, everyone is invited to bring a snack, dessert, or dish to share, but keep in mind that we may not use the grill. Hope to see as many of you as possible!

Summer Youth Events

We are planning to hold a practice youth event in each month of summer, with June's event taking place on Sunday, June 28th. This event is unsanctioned but open to all of our fencers age 14 and below. Fencers can participate in one or two age categories: Y14 (born 2015-2018), Y12 (born 2013-2016), or Y10 (born 2011-2014). The Y14 and Y10 events will be held at 1pm on Sunday, while the Y12 event will be held at 3pm. Because this event is unsanctioned, full competitive equipment and competitive memberships are not required. Fencers of all skill levels are welcome.

There should be an AskFRED page for this event, but unfortunately I'm experiencing some technical difficulties with their platform. Hopefully that will be fixed soon, and I will post this event, but in the meantime, you can sign up at the club or by email. Let's make these great events!

July Youth Camp

Our summer Youth Camp will be held the final week of July--July 27-31. This camp is open to all fencers ages 9-12 (or younger with coaches' permission), and will be held from 9am to 12:30pm. This camp is to intended to be a fun way to expand fencers' knowledge and skills, get them excited about fencing, and form friendships with teammates. The cost of the camp is $150 for the whole week, or $40 per day. As mentioned above, there will be an official sign-up online shortly; in the meantime, you can sign up at the club or by emailing us. This should be a fun camp for all!

July 4th Closure

One last date to put on your calendars--we will be closed on Saturday, July 4th for Independence Day. Enjoy the holiday, and good luck to all of our fencers who will be competing at the Summer Nationals in Portland that week!
