Labor Day Weekend
We will be closed on Monday for Labor Day. Enjoy your holiday! We will be open as regular this Saturday.
Club Championships
Our first Club Championship event of this season will be held on the weekend of September 11-13. The Open event will be held Friday, September 11th at 7pm, and the Youth/Cadet/Junior events on Sunday, September 13th. You can sign up or learn more here . In our Club Championships series, fencers accumulate points over the course of the year, with eventual champions being determined in the spring. This year, there will be 4 events over the course of the year, with each fencer's worst result (or missed competition) being thrown out. As always, this event is for ALL HoF members, competitive or otherwise! Don't miss the first event!
Bring-a-Friend Tournament
On Saturday, September 19th, we will be holding a Bring-a-Friend Tournament. The idea is simple--invite a friend with no fencing experience; they will recieve a basic group lesson, you can coach your friend, and then all of our guests will compete! Our fencers will compete against each other not as fencers, but as coaches! This is also a great way to introduce the sport to a friend who might be interested.
There will be two events: the 12 and under category will start at 10:00am, and the 13 and up category will start at 12:00. Each should run about 2 hours. This tournament will replace regular practice on Saturday the 19th. There will be a sign-up sheet at the club. The more people who sign up and bring a friend, the more fun this event will be!
Fencers Attacking Diabetes
The 10th annual Fencers Attacking Diabetes Tournament will be held the weekend of September 26th. This event usually has a great turnout and features both a women's event on Saturday the 26th and a mixed open event on Sunday the 27th. I highly recommend this event for all of our competitive fencers. In order to avoid incurring a late fee, you must register online by September 18th. You can found all of the event info here .
Buccaneers Class
As a reminder, we are offering free participation in our Buccaneers Class (6-8 year olds) for the month of September! This class meets Mondays and Wednesdays at 4:30, and Saturday at 10:00. All young fencers are welcome--spread the word!
Have a good week,
-Nick
