Tournament Results

There is a TON of info in this email, so be sure to check out all the upcoming opportunities, but first--congratulations to all our fencers who competed this past weekend at our Unrated/Y14 Tournament! There was a lot of good fencing and lessons learned in both events. In the Unrated event, we hosted several fencers from other clubs, but our fencers still swept the event! Congrats to all our fencers and medalists, especially Amer Alalami who won the Y14 event, and Sebastian Kim, who won the Unrated and earned his E22! You can view the full results here .

Upcoming Tournaments

There are plenty more tournament opportunities coming up, both at HoF and around Northern Ohio. The best way to build more success is to attend tournaments regularly! Next on the calendar is the Escrime D'Halloween on October 15-16. This is a regional event, which means it does require the full competitive membership (access memberships can always be upgraded). There is also a vet event for fencers 40+! Note that the deadline to register for this event is October 7th. On October 22, Hooked on Fencing is hosting an open (any competitive fencer age 13+). This is already shaping up to be a great event, so make sure to sign up! The Ohio State University Open is on Saturday, October 29th. This will be a very tough, very competitive tournament, but great for any fencers looking for a challenge! On November 6th, Western Reserve Academy is hosting a 'C' and Under . They have supported our club by sending fencers to our events, and we will return the favor! This also a great event for many of our fencers! And the following week, November 12, we are holding our second Unrated/Y14 event of the year! As always, be sure to sign up for events well in advance. Don't wait until the last minute!!!

Weapon-Building Class - 10/8

We've been planning this for a while, but it's finally scheduled! Join us on Saturday, October 8th at 1:45 for a weapon-building class. Everyone who comes will build an epee from all the component parts, and learn about how it all fits together. This is open to fencers, or fencer/parent combos. There are (somewhat) limited materials, so be sure to shoot us an email or sign up at the club if you're interested! Also--if anyone is willing to bring in either a table vice or a portable workbench with a vice, that will help everyone be able to work on weapons simultaneously.

Adult Beginner Class - 10/12

Our fall Adult Class begins on Wednesday, October 12 and runs for six weeks! This is open to any and all beginners age 13 and over. Parents--if you've ever thought about stepping onto the strip, this is a great chance! The class runs 8-9:30pm and costs $120 (all equipment included). Pass on the word, or sign up yourself!

Board Game Night - 10/21

We are holding another board game night on Friday, October 21! Basically, it's a chance to hang out and have fun with other members of the club, with board games and snacks! We'll start at 6pm and go to 9-10pm. Feel free to bring a snack or board games to share and we'll have a great time! All club members and parents/siblings are welcome!

Bring-A-Friend Tournament - 11/5

On Saturday, November 5th, we're holding a Bring-A-Friend Tournament at 1:30pm. If you participated in the Bring-A-Parent Tournament, this is basically the same idea, but with friends! Fencers can invite a friend who has never fenced, and coach them in an all-beginners tournament! This is open to all of our members, and there will be a sign-up available at the club. See you all there!
