New Membership Season and Advanced Epee Camp

New Fencing Season

The new USFA fencing starts on August 1st. We can look forward to many great competitions in this coming season! What this means, though, is that everyone must renew their membership in the United States Fencing Association. For competitive fencers, you should know the drill by now; simply go here and renew for 2016-17. For non-competitive members, the USFA requires you to have a non-competitive membership for insurance purposes; you can follow the same link and choose the non-competitive membership which is $10 per year. If you are not sure which option you should choose, ask us at the club. It's important that all of our members have up-to-date membership!

Advanced Epee Camp

Our Advanced Epee Camp begins on August 8th! If you have not yet signed up, and you are a competitive fencer aged 13 and up, you should sign up today. Coach Walt will be there for the camp, and it will be a great experience for all who attend!

Upcoming Classes

New Youth Classes start on Saturday, August 13th. Spread the word; this is an Olympic summer, and everyone knows someone who would be interested in the sport of fencing! You can also share this link on Facebook. Our members must be ambassadors of fencing!

Knight of the Black and Blue

At the summer cookout, we honored Jacob Henkels as the fourth-ever recipient of the Knight of the Black and Blue. This is the highest honor a Hooked on Fencing student can achieve at the club; it signifies true excellence as an athlete and as an individual. Not only has Jacob demonstrated competitiveness and character on the fencing strip, he has also given significant amounts of his time to helping around the club, coaching younger students, giving demonstrations, and being a leader at the club and at competitions. Congratulations, Jacob, and good luck at UNC this fall!

Cornhole Tournament for Lauryn

On Saturday, August 6th, the DeLuca family will be holding a cornhole tournament at the club to help support travel costs as Lauryn DeLuca competes in Rio this September at the Paralympics! The event will start at 2:00pm and cost $20 per person. Bring a friend and compete for a good cause! Anyone is welcome. Let's make it a great event!

Cedar Point Trip

Our annual Cedar Point trip will be Saturday, August 27th. We will meet at the club at 10:00am on August 27th and leave for Cedar Point by 10:15am. There is a sign-up sheet at the club for those interested. Anyone is welcome to come (parents included) but you should be at least 13 to come by yourself.
