Summer Cookout
The Summer Cookout is THIS Monday, July 14th! This will take the place of regular practice on Monday. The cookout will start at 6pm--hopefully the weather will cooperate but either way, we'll use a mix of our indoor and outdoor space. As usual, we'll have supplies for hot dogs/hamburgers, but everyone should plan to bring a dish or dessert to share. We'll also be sending off a few of our graduating seniors, so be sure to stop by and celebrate! See you there!
New Fencing Season
The new USA Fencing season begins on August 1st, which means a few things for our members. First, it's time to renew your USA Fencing membership, which you can do right here . All of our members are required to be USA Fencing members, so don't wait!
Secondly, this is the date that fencers shift to the next age group. This may mean new tournament opportunities or new practice times for many of our members. Most importantly, fencers born in 2012 will now be able to compete in open, unrated, Division II and Division III categories. Those fencers will also attend practices later, starting at 6pm during the week and staying through group footwork from 6:45-7:15. These fencers are welcome to stay past that time for more fencing practice and experience, but should plan to be at practice from at least 6-7:15. Meanwhile, a few of our older fencers who now come at 6pm should shift their practice time to 6:45, beginning with group footwork and staying for open fencing. If you are unsure of when to come, please feel free to discuss at the club and make a plan for the new season!
Upcoming Tournaments
Now is also a good time to look ahead and make plans for competition in the 2025-26 season. Much of the tournament calendar for next season is yet to be filled in, but here's a few events and dates to keep in mind as you plan for the year. The Duelist Open in Ann Arbor is August 9th, with a vet event the following day. The Motor City SYC /RCC is September 19-21. The Cleveland Rocks RYC/RJCC (at CSU) is September 27-28. There will be an Ohio State Open on October 11th. The Escrime d'Halloween RYC/RJCC is October 25-26. You can also view the current 2025-26 National season right here . Of note, the March North American Cup, with Youth and Division II events, will once again be held in Cleveland!
Be sure to add some of these dates to your calendar!
