HoF Reopening
Hooked on Fencing will reopen on Tuesday, May 26th, with a modified schedule. Please read this entire email to learn about our opening schedule and register online for fencing classes. We are currently limited on our maximum capacity, so we're asking that you schedule both lessons and fencing in advance.
We're doing our best to safely accommodate all of our members, but you can help us out by following a few simple policies. If you have a temperature or are feeling sick, please stay home. Consider wearing a mask at practice. Use your own fencing mask, and if possible, your own jacket and glove. Parents: wait for your fencer in the car if possible. If necessary, there is limited seating available in our waiting room, but please limit it to one parent per fencer. Following these policies will help us keep the club open!
Private Lessons
For now, lessons will take place on different days than group classes. We are making private lessons available on Monday and Tuesday from 1-9pm, and Saturday from 9am-1pm. All of our members can pick an available time slot on this page . Note: it does not matter which date you pick--whichever weekday and time you select will become your recurring private lesson slot. Also note, there are no Monday lessons the week of the 25th, but you can schedule on Monday by selecting the following week.
On lesson days, fencers may stay at the club for the duration of the following lesson slot and engage in individual training (target practice, footwork, etc.). There will be a list of suggested exercises available at the club if fencers wish to follow a training regimen.
In order to make the most of everyone's time, please plan to arrive on time and be ready at your selected start time.
Group Classes
Group classes will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, at least through the end of June. Classes are currently limited to 10 fencers per class, and we're asking that you sign up for only one class per week at first. Several class categories and times are available. You can see the full schedule and sign up here or visit this page directly to register for classes.
If you feel that none of available slots can possibly work for you, send us an email. If there is enough interest, we will consider making additional group classes available.
Ohio's reopening is still in an early stage. We will begin to normalize our schedule as soon as it is safe and reasonable to do so. Stay tuned for more information as the situation changes!
Abbey Road
In case you needed a little extra inconvenience, Abbey Road is currently closed for construction on the Royalton Road side. If you're coming from the highway, it's best to take the W. 130th detour to Albion and approach HoF from the other side. Please take this into account, as the schedule will be tighter than usual.
See you soon!
