FFFFF Night THIS Friday!

FFFFF Night

This Friday, we're hosting an FFFFF Night! We'll get pizza, play some games (maybe some shorter board games too), hang out, and watch a film on the projector screen! All fencers, family, and friends are invited to come have fun! 6:30pm is the official start time, but doors will open at 6pm. Bring a snack to share--we'll start our movie around 8pm and finish some time around 10pm. See you there!

High School Championships

This weekend, our fencers competed at the Ohio High School Championships in Columbus, and had a successful tournament! In the men's epee, our boys claimed the top three spots, with Nikita Lasiychuk winning gold, Ethan Camp winning silver, and Reilly Jones earning the bronze. This is the 27th Ohio High School Championship WIN for Hooked on Fencing, the fourth in a row for our men's epeeists, and a back-to-back win for Nikita. Most of our men's epee fencers were eliminated by each other in some close, competitive bouts, and demonstrated great fencing throughout the day! Meanwhile, Sophia Ahmad competed for the first time in the high school women's epee, where she emerged undefeated from pools and eventually claimed 2nd place in her event! Congrats to all of our fencers on their hard work and perseverance!

Armory Class

On Saturday, April 25, we'll be holding an armory class at the club at 1:30pm for anyone interested. Parents and fencers are both welcome to attend! The main topics this time will be diagnosing weapon issues, and fixing the most common epee and tip problems. This class will be a little over an hour and we'll do some hands-on repair. All fencers should know how to maintain and fix their weapons! You can sign up for this class at the club this week, or just show up. See you there!

Spring Cleaning

On Saturday, May 9th, we'll be doing our (semi) annual spring cleaning, to keep the club organized and looking great, and we're asking for your help! The more people who come out to help, the faster we can get this done! Parents and fencers are both welcome to help--we'll have quite a few tasks and projects to work on, so if you're willing to help us out, let us know by signing up at the club. Thanks in advance!

Bring-a-Parent

Also coming soon is our Bring-a-Parent tournament, on Saturday, May 16 at 1:30pm. Basically, fencers can bring a parent (or two) who has never fenced before, teach them the basics, and parents will compete together in a mini-tournament with fencers as coaches! There will be a sign up for this event at the club this week. We will also be holding a similar-in-concept Bring-a-Friend tournament in June or July, so stay tuned for that!

June Summer Camp

Don't forget to sign up for our June Summer Camp! askfred.net The sooner you sign up, the better we can make this camp. Whether you're attending Summer Nationals or not (Portland is pretty far away) this is still a good chance to hone your skills and have fun with other fencers.
