Fencing This Saturday

This Saturday, Jeff Hudson will be joining us once more to fence and prepare for the Veteran World Cup in Hungary the following week. Let's get as many of our members here as possible so he can get a good workout and a good send-off to the World Cup! If you don't already have plans, come fence!

HoF Cedar Point Trip

On October 18th, Hooked on Fencing is going to Cedar Point for Halloweekends! The plan is to meet at the club that Saturday at 11:30, carpool to Cedar Point, and spend the day at the park! If we can get at least 15 people to go, we can get a group rate of $37.00 per person. You can sign-up at HoF or online for both those interested in going, and parents willing to drive. Everyone is welcome to come, but those under 13 should plan on coming with parents. We will have final details next week, but for now, make sure you sign up so we know who is interested!

Junior Olympics and Qualifiers

The Junior Olympics are the biggest National fencing tournament for Junior (19 & under) and Cadet (16 & under) fencers, and this year they will be held in Richmond, VA. In the scheme of things, this is relatively close. If you are considering going (or even if you are not), you must first qualify by competing in the Division Qualifier. This event will be held on November 1-2. It is not yet on AskFRED, but add it to your calendars! The JO's will be held February 13-16.

Chicago Remenyik ROC

The weekend of October 25-26, there will be a Regional Open Circuit (ROC) event at Northwestern University. In case you're not sure what this means, ROC's are a level above local events, but a level below National events. This is an excellent event for all of our competitive fencers. There will be Open, Junior, and Cadet events, each with separate men's and women's competition. If you are serious about competing, this is a must-do event! Preregister or find out more here . This event is also a qualifying path to the Junior Olympics!

Have a good week,

-Nick
