Cleveland NAC THIS Weekend!

Weekend Results

Many of our fencers competed this past weekend, both locally and regionally. At the Chapman Invitational at Western Reserve Academy, our high school boys swept the event, finishing top 3 in a field of 25 competitors. Congratulations to Nikita Lasiychuk on the gold, Ethan Camp on finishing second, and James Zhang for finishing third! Additionally, Sophia Ahmad earned the bronze medal in the Women's Epee event. Congrats, all!

Cleveland NAC

The Cleveland North American Cup is almost here! Several of our fencers are competing this weekend (March 7-10) at one the biggest fencing tournaments of the season, with Cleveland hosting a few thousand fencers from all over North America. If you are competing this weekend, be sure to get all of your equipment ready at the club this week! Even if you're not fencing this weekend, come to practice this week and help our competitors prepare for this event! You can also visit the Huntington Convention Center downtown to catch some fencing in action on the biggest stage. I highly recommend that our members check out this event and see what it's all about! You can also try on equipment or pick up some fencing merch to show off your sport. Admission is free for spectators, and our fencers will be there competing every day of the competition. See you there!

Upcoming Events for Everyone

There are lot of upcoming events at HoF to get excited about! On Friday, March 21st, we are holding our next FFFFF Night! Basically, we'll have pizza and snacks, hang out, and watch a movie at HoF! This event will start at 6pm, and we'll start the movie around 7:30-8pm. Everyone is invited! You can also mark your calendars for May 10th, when we'll have another board game night at the club. Everyone's invited to come get together and play some games. We will also soon post another equipment repair class, a Spring Bring-A-Friend tournament, and our mostly annual Spring cleaning, where volunteers can help get the club ready for warmer weather. Stay tuned for these events, and don't forget to check out more competitive events...

...for Youth Fencers

We are holding two Youth events in the next two months! All of our Y12 and Y14 fencers should take advantage of these opportunities right here at home! Our first Youth Tournament is Saturday, March 22 , and our second is Saturday, April 12 . Be sure to sign up for both of these events in advance on AskFRED. For youth fencers ready and willing to travel, there are also upcoming Regional Youth Circuits in Grand Rapids and Chicago , but act fast, the deadline for these events is fast approaching!

...for Intermediate Fencers

If you are a local competitor, or new to competition in general, you should absolutely take part in our Unrated Tournament on March 22, as well as our 'D' and Under Tournament on April 12. These events were made for you!

...for HS/Competitive Fencers

Our high school fencers should register now for the Ohio High School Championships on April 6th! Fencers from HoF have won this event 24 times, making us the most dominant club in the state. If you bring home the title, you could have your name on a banner at the club! In any case, this is a great event for all of our high school fencers to have on their resume, so sign up now! Tomorrow is also the DEADLINE to register for the GRAFA RYC/RJCC/ROC . Our competitive fencers should also sign up for the HoF Open on April 26th, the Denison-Curn Open on June 14th, and the Summer National Qualifiers on May 4th, if you plan to compete at Summer

Nationals. Speaking of which...

HoF Pre-Nationals Summer Camp

Sign up now for our pre-nationals Summer Camp the week of June 16-20! This is the perfect opportunity to dive deeper, become a better fencer, and prepare for Summer Nationals in a fun environment with friends! In fact, Summer camps are often the best way to bond with your teammates as you learn new skills and train to be a stronger, more strategic fencer. Don't wait to sign up! The more fencers sign up as early as possible, the better we can make this camp and also make it a destination for other local fencers. While this camp is great preparation for Summer Nationals, it's also open to all HoF fencers age 13+ who want to build their skills and become better fencers. Whether you're competing at Nationals or not, we'd love to have you take part!
