Buccaneers Class
Two updates about our Buccaneers Class (6-8 year olds): first, the Buccaneers will no longer meet on Thursdays. There will be class on Monday and Wednesday at 4:30, and Saturday mornings at 10:00. Secondly, to start the new school year, we are offering free participation to all interested young fencers from now until the end of September! Younger siblings, children, or friends are welcome to try fencing free for an entire month! (There is still a $10 yearly USFA insurance membership) Spread the word to anyone you think might be interested!
Donkey Open
Don't forget to sign up for our Donkey Open on August 30th! This is a fun event where you can get some great fencing practice. The event features multiple formats, including pools and teams! In case you needed any more reason to fence, Coach Walt will be here and fencing in this event as well!
September Club Championships
Our first Club Championship event of this season will be held on the weekend of September 11-13. The Open event will be held Friday, September 11th at 7pm, and the Youth/Cadet/Junior events on Sunday, September 13th. You can sign up or learn more here . In our Club Championships series, fencers accumulate points over the course of the year, with eventual champions being determined in the spring. This year, there will be 4 events over the course of the year, with each fencer's worst result (or missed competition) being thrown out. As always, this event is for ALL HoF members, competitive or otherwise!
October NAC
The first North American Cup of the season will be held in Richmond, VA over the weekend of October 9-12, featuring Division I, Division II, and Cadet events. The deadline to register is August 31, and more information can be found here . This is a fantastic way to start the season at a National event within driving distance!
Coach Walt Visit
Coach Walt will be at the club next week starting Wednesday the 26th. Make sure you drop in to fence/say hello while he's in town!
Have a good week,
-Nick
