'D' & Under Results
This past Saturday, we hosted a well-attended 'D' and Under tournament. In a field of 15 local fencers, HoF fencers claimed the top four spots, sweeping the event! Special congratulations to Catherine Popa, who earned her E2020, and Fritz Micko, who won the event and earned his D2020! You can view the full results here .
Arnold Fencing Classic
The Arnold Fencing Classic is this weekend (Friday-Sunday), and many of our fencers will be in attendance. If you haven't seen already, there is big news surrounding the Arnold Sports Festival this year; Governor Mike DeWine has made the decision to cancel the expo and close the event to spectators in response to coronavirus concerns.
HOWEVER, all fencing events will take place as scheduled!!! Here are the key points of the official communication from USFA regarding the event:
- We are still in the Hyatt-Regency and everything remains as it was.
- Registration may slow down as athletes are asked screening questions regarding coronavirus.
- Parents and coaches will be allowed with the fencers. They are not spectators. Obviously minors cannot be in the venue unsupported.
- Relatives and friends that are not immediate family should avoid coming if possible.
Hopefully, the events will run relatively smoothly. For up-to-date information, schedule, and live-streaming, see this site .
Hooked on Fencing will be open on Saturday, March 7.
FFFFF Night
Our first FFFFF Night of the year is on Friday, March 13th! That's Friday, Fencing, Fun, Food, and Film, to name a few! We will hang out, eat pizza and snacks, and watch a surprise movie. All of our fencers and friends are invited! FFFFF Night will start at 6:00pm, and we will begin the movie around 7:00pm. We should wrap up roughly around 9:30. See you there!
Detroit NAC
Later this month, eighteen of our fencers will travel to Detroit, Michigan, to compete in the March North American Cup! IMPORTANT NOTE: in order to cover coaching costs, there will be a coaching fee associated with this event. This will amount to approximately 25-30 dollars per event fenced. We will be in touch with competitors individually between now and March 20th. Now is also a good time to make sure fencers have all necessary equipment in working order. It will be easier to fix equipment now than right before the event!!!
Non-competitors: as the event gets closer, you can follow the live results here and cheer on our fencers from afar!
Club Championships III
Our third Club Championships of the season takes place on Saturday and Sunday, March 28-29. This event is open to all of our fencers, whether you have a competitive membership or not. For more info, and to register, visit askFRED . Put it on your calendars!
