February 1 DEADLINE for Arnold Fencing Classic
January Results
Our fencers represented HoF well last weekend, competing at Fencing Center of Chicago's RYC/RJCC! In the Junior Men's Epee, Fritz Micko finished 5th of 28. In Cadet Men's Epee, Fritz finished in 1st place and Paxon Elyaderani finished 3rd of 26! Awesome showing! Paxon also WON the Y14 event, finishing 1st in a field of 29 competitors. Meanwhile, Elena Miinea finished 3rd in both the Junior and Cadet Women's events. For her finish in Cadet Women's Epee (3rd of 25) she earned her C22! Tournaments THIS Weekend
Competitive fencers--don't pass up the tournaments happening THIS weekend! First, on Saturday at 2pm, we are holding a D & Under Tournament at HoF. Then, on Sunday, Western Reserve Academy is hosting a C & Under and a Women's Epee event . Lots of opportunities to fence! If you're free this weekend, head out and compete!
HoF Mixed Open
The following weekend (January 29) we are hosting a Mixed Epee Open ! We take pride in hosting the best events we can, and part of that means being well-attended! Make sure you register in advance for this tournament, and who knows--there may be some great opportunities to earn ratings! The events starts at 2pm. Come fence!
Upcoming Youth Events
There are many more opportunities to compete. Always be sure to check out the left side of these emails for more events, search AskFRED and USFencing , or ask at the club! There are two youth events coming up for our younger fencers, especially those looking to participate in their first tournament! One is the Cyrano's Youth event on February 20. This event is in Lakewood and could be a good opportunity for first time competitors (and the slightly more seasoned). The other event, which has typically been a great tournament for first-timers, is the Arnold Fencing Classic in Columbus the weekend of March 11-13. Each individual event is only on one day. If you would like to compete at either of these events, you will need a complete set of tournament equipment and a US Fencing membership. If you are interested in learning more, send us an email or discuss at the club. I'd love to get some new fencers started on their competitive journey!
