Membership Fees

To improve the club, we are going to take advantage of an automated payment system. PayPal has a feature that will allow us to automate the collection of membership dues. This will not only keep better track of membership but it also allows coaches to focus on fencing lessons and less on money collection. Automated payment with PayPal allows our members to use major credit cards or a PayPal account. The sign up is easy and can be accessed through the internet and includes a secure connection.

In 1975 minimum wage was $1.85?! In 2009, minimum wage is $7.50?! Why is this relevant? Because once you begin an automatic payment on PayPal, the rates will never go up as long as you continue paying! Even if twenty years pass, and inflation has driven the price of a cheeseburger to $23.98, you will still pay as much as you do now!” We call this our forever discount.

Difference Between Contributing and Philanthropist Membership Hopefully, you have browsed our website and realized that Hooked on Fencing is a facility that offers a lot and requires more than just money to get by. We have fundraisers and activities and tournaments to help stay open, complete our mission, and engage individuals in the sport of fencing. However, these activities require volunteers and for that reason, two different memberships have risen: the Contributing membership and the Philanthropist membership.

The Contributing member is someone who is expected to participate, in some way, to help the club. This required participation can come in a number of different ways: participating in fundraisers, organizing fundraisers, helping organize tournaments, help clean the fencing facility or generally aiding the club, when it is in need. Participation is not required for every fund raising event or activity, but it is easy to see the difference between someone who is helping the club, and someone who is simply coming to the club. Therefore, the discount in price is compensation for time and effort spent helping the club.

A Philanthropist member is someone who simply comes to the fencing club and fences. When fundraisers and activities come around, participation is not expected or even directed. Hooked on Fencing understands that there is simply not enough time in a day to enjoy the sport of fencing and contribute to fundraisers at the same time. Therefore, simply coming to the club is all that is forecast for a philanthropist member.

We at HoF are dedicated to the SPORT OF FENCING. While money is important, we will not let money rule us. If you are interested in the sport but cannot afford the membership, please feel free to contact one of the board members. We can work together. It's about the fencing
