Brian Stone: Coach

Brian fenced collegiately at Notre Dame, and earned first team All-America honors as a senior in 1998 by placing fourth that year in epee at the NCAA Championships. He also was a member of the second-place epee squad in team competition. Stone also finished first at the 1998 Midwest Fencing Championships. He served as a team captain in each of his final two seasons in South Bend.

A native of Hackettstown, N.J., Brian graduated from Notre Dame in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in philosophy and studio art. Following graduation, Stone served for two years as an assistant coach for the Fighting Irish (1999-01). Upon moving to the Cleveland area Brian has worked as an assitant coach at Case Western Reserve and Cleveland State Universities, and the head coach at Oberlin College for the 2003-04 campaign.
